Podróż ludzi Księgi
Author: Olga Tokarczuk
I was really curious about this book. Olga Tokarczuk, a Polish writer, won the 2018 Nobel Prize in Literature, so I thought I should check out her work. “The Journey of the Book-People” is her debut novel, a historical fantasy set in 17th-century France.
The story follows a motley crew - a mute boy, an abandoned courtesan, and a mysterious marquis - on a quest to find a legendary, all-powerful Book. Their journey through the Pyrenees mountains is filled with adventure and philosophical questions.
Honestly, I didn’t finish this one. While I was intrigued by the premise, the writing style just didn’t click with me. It felt a bit too allegorical and slow-paced for my taste. It’s a shame when you don’t connect with a book from such a celebrated author, but not every book is for every reader!
