Book of Life
Author: Deborah Harkness
In The Book of Life, all the threads from the previous parts finally start to come together. There’s an old legend about two powerful witches - and for a long time, you’re not sure whether it refers to Satu or Diana. As the story unfolds, secrets are revealed, alliances are formed, and everything begins to make sense.
What I particularly liked was how certain “plans” from the past started resurfacing in the present. It’s not easy to make time travel feel coherent, but Harkness does it in a smart and subtle way. Old letters, ancient orders, and centuries-old influences all blend into the story naturally, giving a sense of depth and continuity that ties the whole trilogy together.
The ending might not be the most surprising one - you can more or less guess where it’s heading - but it’s still satisfying and absolutely worth reading to the end. A solid conclusion to a beautifully imagined series.
