I received this book as a present from my wife. It didn’t look exceptional, just something random, but she really hit the mark. Although I don’t remember the plot details perfectly after all these years, it was a very good book.
Warning
Spoiler alert!
I loved the ending: we’re not alone in the universe. Our planet is just a storage facility for an ultimate solar system destruction mechanism-two black holes made of matter and anti-matter orbiting each other. They are ready to fire at anyone who dares to become a threat. We don’t know who hid it here, but we know how small we are in the grand scheme of things.
Of course, it’s complete nonsense from a physics perspective, as such black holes would emit gravity high enough to collapse our planet and the rest of the solar system on their own. But it’s fiction, not science. It’s a bit in Stephen King’s style: it feels normal until the monsters come from the fog 😃
